FAMILY: The only son born to William (1902-1976) and Josephine Coleman Maley (1904-1979). 1

CIRCUMSTANCES: Boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, in the Fall of 1943. In early 1944, assigned to Company A, 16th Marines (Engr), 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California, and then the Engineer Battalion, 5th Marine Division, in the summer of 1944. Died of gunshot wounds to the abdomen. Awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
