Elizabeth was a 1964 graduate in nursing of the Medical College of South Carolina at Charleston. She had been assigned to the U.S. Army Hospital, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, before entering service in Vietnam. She was survived by her parents and sister. Elizabeth had many friends through her active nursing, church, and equestrian activities. She was engaged to be married to the pilot of the helicopter, Lt Col Charles M. Honour, Jr. of Norcross, Georgia.

ALLENDALE, S.C. – Full military honors will attend services for Lt. Elizabeth Ann Jones on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Swallow Savannah Cemetery at Allendale-Fairfax. Lieutenant Jones was killed on February 18th when the helicopter in which she was riding crashed in Vietnam. Burial for Lieutenant Colonel Charles Honour, her fiancée, killed in the same crash, will coincide with Lieutenant Jones’ services and will be held in Arlington National Cemetery. Lieutenant Jones was a graduate of Allendale-Fairfax High School and the Medical School of Nursing in Charleston. Before being assigned to Vietnam, she was stationed at Fort Jackson. She was attached to the Army Hospital in Saigon when the accident occurred. Survivors include her parents, George and Mabel Kirkland Jones of Allendale; two brothers, Lieutenant George L. Jones of Fort Wolters, Mineral Wells, Texas, and Thomas Kirkland Jones of Allendale; a grandmother, Mrs. Fred Jones of Orangeburg; and three aunts also of Orangeburg, Mrs. Hugh Thompson, Mrs. Will Stroman, and Mrs. Tim Stroman.
