OTHER: The family moved to Brooklyn, New York, between 1924 and 1926. First training was at Fort Des Moines, Iowa, and then on to Camp Atterbury, Indiana. After the service, Pearl was the first former servicewoman to join American Legion Post 269 in Oakland. In 1951, while working at the Oakland Naval Ordnance Depot, Pearl received a $150 award for a suggestion that saved the Navy money.
